Time has come to teach a lesson to the BJP, Congress leaders in Manipur said on Wednesday.

State Congress leader  and sitting MLA, K Govindas, in his address at the launch of Youth Congress’s “Chalo Panchayat Chalo Ward” Abhiyanat in Bishnupur district, alleged BJP government doing nothing except spreading false propagandas.

He said that BJP has done nothing for the welfare of the people except renaming of schemes implemented during Congress regime. They were cheating and fooling the people with false propagandas through media.

The BJP has been looting government exchequers all this years since the party came to power at the Centre by way of issuing advertisements with their false propaganda, the former minister alleged.

The Manipur unit of the Youth Congress launched the “Chalo Panchayat Chalo Ward Abhiyanat” with the objective of creating awareness to the people on the welfare works that were performed by the Congress during its 15 years rule in the state.

Mention may be made that Congress under the leadership of O Ibobi Singh ruled the state for three consecutive terms before the BJP snatched the power after general elections in 2017.

Govindas said that like the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, the BJP-led coalition government in the state has also been actively engaging in cheating and fooling the people with its false propagandas.

The launch of the “Chalo Panchayat Chalo Ward Abhiyanat” comes at a time when political parties in Manipur are gearing up for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls which will be held in Manipur in two phases; on April 11 and 18.

In Manipur, the polling for the Outer Manipur (Reserved) Parliamentary Constituency and Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency will be held on April 11 and 18 respectively.

The formal notifications will be issued on March 18 for Outer seat and on March 19 for Inner seat after which filing of nomination papers for candidatures will be allowed.
