Public Works Department (PWD) minister, Tongpang Ozukum, inspected ongoing city road projects in the State capital, Kohima, on March 9. Ozukum expressed satisfaction and appreciated the contractors who had completed their work on time. He called upon them to deliver timely and quality execution of works strictly as per specifications.

Pointing out that this was the first time the State PWD is constructing roads of such specifications, Ozukum urged the executing agency to not compromise on quality work. Expressing his concern over the work at Billy Graham Road and Kohima Science College Road, he told the contractors and department officials to expedite things there to ensure that the work is completed before the monsoon season sets in. The minister also inspected the Sanouru Bridge construction site (Nagaland Secretariat Road) and insisted that the river channel, mid pier, and abutment should be completed before the onset of monsoons.

To help the work move along faster, Ozukum urged department officials to constantly monitor and supervise the work being carried out. The minister was accompanied by SE - II PWD (R&B), EE, SDOs and JEs from the PWD (R&B) South Division Kohima.

It may be noted that out of the ongoing improvement works on 26 roads in Kohima, which has a total length of 49.9 kms, six Kohima city roads have been completed. The six are: PHQ Junction to Hotel Cimorb via CM/Speaker/AR Camp Old Ministers Hill; Mohankhola Junction to Lower AG Waiting Shed; Old NST Bus Station to New Market joining Tinpati road; NHAK to Tinpati Junction via Daklane and Naga Bazar; Old MLA Hostel to AR Camp via DC office; and Razhu Point to Ao Church via D Block (Jasokie road).
