With the announcement of the Parliamentary election Sunday by the Election Commission, the Lok Sabha polls and by-election to 26-Aonglenden A/C in Nagaland will be held simultaneously on April 11, Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland Abhijit Sinha Sunday informed.

MCC comes into effect: With this, he said the Model Code of Conduct has come into force with immediate effect from March 10, 2019 and will remain in operation till completion of the election process.

Meeting with political parties: CEO has also called for a meeting with all political parties at l p.m. on March 11, at Tapi Hall, Hotel Japfu, Kohima. All political parties have been requested to depute at least two representatives to attend the meeting positively. 

Addressing the media here along with additional CEO N. Moa Aier, Abhijit Sinha said the issue of gazette notification will be on March 18 and the last date for nomination is March 25, while scrutiny of nominations will be held on March 26, the last date of withdrawal will be March 28 and counting of votes on May 23, 2019.

CEO further informed that as per the general electors final published e-roll 2019, Nagaland has total of 12,09,613 (6,13,409 male & 5,96,204 female) electors, including service electors 7306 (7236 male & 70 female).

Polling will be held in 2,227 polling stations at 2067 polling locations. 

With regard to 26-Aonglenden AC by-election, he said the constituency has a total of 12,269 (6098 male & 6171 female) electors including 46 male service electors. 

Sinha said the state has marked around 500-600 sensitive polling stations where webcasting and videography will be put in place. 

He said the State Election department has trained all concerned officers and was prepared to conduct the poll process.

On security matter, he said besides state security personnel, CRPF personnel will be deployed for election duty. 

Sinha also informed that the district master trainers programme will be held on March 12.
